By creating an account or using ShelfScout (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Teal Nebula, LLC ("Teal Nebula," "we," "us," or "our"), a North Carolina limited liability company.
ShelfScout is a personal book library management application. It allows you to catalog books you own, have read, or want to read; import books from Goodreads CSV exports; search and enrich book metadata via Google Books; and optionally scan physical bookshelves using your device camera with AI-assisted recognition. Your book library is stored in the cloud and synced across your devices.
ShelfScout requires a Google account to sign in. By connecting your Google account, you authorize us to access your basic profile information (name and email address) to create and maintain your account. We do not access your Gmail, Google Drive, or other Google services unless you explicitly grant additional permissions within the App.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it.
Your book library — including titles, authors, reading status, ratings, and notes you add — is your data. You retain full ownership of the book information you store in ShelfScout. You may export or delete your data at any time from within the App or by contacting us at support@tealnebula.com.
We store your book library in a cloud database to enable sync across your devices. By using the App, you grant Teal Nebula a limited license to store, process, and display your book data solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

You agree not to use the App to:
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. TEAL NEBULA DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DATA WILL NEVER BE LOST.
BOOK METADATA RETURNED BY GOOGLE BOOKS MAY BE INACCURATE OR INCOMPLETE. TEAL NEBULA MAKES NO WARRANTY REGARDING THE ACCURACY OF ANY THIRD-PARTY CONTENT DISPLAYED IN THE APP.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, TEAL NEBULA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF TEAL NEBULA HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN ALL CASES, TEAL NEBULA'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR TEN DOLLARS ($10.00).
You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting support@tealnebula.com. Upon verified request, we will delete your book library and account information within 30 days. Teal Nebula reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
Teal Nebula reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App at any time. We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts of North Carolina.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, that provision shall be limited to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining Terms remain in full force.
